It works because they've spent decades brainwashing folks...to the point where the word "liberal" has become tantamount to amoral, traitorous, tax and spend commies. Really. The brainwashing is so effective, that bush's acts which violate the Constitution are ignored, pedophiles are upheld by these folks, and the fact that bush has bankrupted this country many times over is good, because poor people aren't; therefore, being helped.
