ISLD.COM gives you an idea of where the buyers and sellers are. The Level 2 data only shows you Islands best bid and ask. ISLD.COM helps you discern what its level 2 representation will be if the market of the particular stock moves in a certain direction. Too, Datek will fill your order first from Island, if possible, before your order is represented to the market. Using this information, you can determine the best size and price for your buy or sell order. Island is nice when used in conjunction with level 2. Island is most useful with stocks that have a higher volume. You'll notice that Island orders can always be found in the middle of stocks that have the markets attention.
