Sidney, I don't claim to have all the answers. But you have to ignore or explain away some plainly written verses to discard Christ's reconciling/saving all.
Unfortunately, you subscribe to the doctrine formulated by the church at Rome around the 4th century, and propagated by the latin vulgate. Pagan worshippers of pan at ceasaria phillipi came up with "the underworld". And it was adopted by the Roman church. Apparently, they thought the same thing Soros did about fear being a good motivator.
Since Paul brought the gospel to the uncircumcision, why didn't he inundate us with warnings of hell? Paul never mentions hell. (Note: some versions wrongly interpret thanatos as hell in 1 Cor 15:55) Thanatos means death.
I relied on church doctrine for 42 years but there were always questions about certain concepts that were explained by my pastor or teachers, but always had to do with explanations like "that doesn't actually mean what it says there". It always involved a stretch. Then they told me to get a Strong's concordance. You know what I found out? Strong would come up with a correct definition of a word and record it, then throw in different words that it "could" mean. All he wound up doing was validating the KJV. He used the KJV to define words.
If you'll notice, some of the newer translations (and that's all they are--translations) are correcting a lot of the KJV's errors, which, by the way numbered over 10,000 in it's original form. 10,000 errors.
Anyway, I sincerely hope you get out from under the church doctrine you're and under build on the Word of God instead of the latin vulgate.

PS: Edit-By the way, I'm just curious, which part/parts do you disagree with on my end times analysis? Admittedly, I haven't spent much time studying end times prophecy. |
