Until I was going into 6th grade, we lived on an acre, in between aunts and uncles on both sides of us. We furnished water from an artesian well to all three households. Each family grew stuff, which we shared. Each spring we'd start 100 chicks and a beef. Uncles grew lots of veggies, geese and a hog. We also had at least 2 saddle horses all the time. In season, I'd hunt and fish with the "men". It was great and provides many wonderful memories. Just prior to 6th grade, we moved closer to the city, but still kept a horse and always raised chickens. I still love fried chicken.
