The tired old message, "Trust us or the terrorists will get you!" is finally falling flat politically, a well-deserved fate. Watching Bush mouth the slogan now is kind of sad, with a whole political circus whirling around him that Rove didn't brief him on in advance, apparently. Bush, Sr. tended to slip and stutter when he got in a political hole too. The family has never been very strong at the day to day duking it out in political infighting. Much better at staying above the fray and staying on message in a simple context.
