Update on "The Naked Truth" by Mark Faulk Sep 13, 2006
I?ve had a lot of questions lately about continued delays of the completion of ?The Naked Truth,? and understandably so. I also have a set of questions from the CMKX Coalition for Stock Market Reform which follows this book update.
The postponed release date on the book was my mistake. First of all, I was simply naive to think that I could wade through all of this morass and write about it in four or five months. I had no idea how complex this was when I got into it (I should have asked for a bigger advance). Secondly, everyone involved wrongly assumed that surely....SURELY....at the very least, the cert pull, lawsuits against the brokers, and some kind of resolution about the future direction of the company (if any) would be resolved long before now. Again, I underestimated the world of CMKX.
Now I'm faced with the decision of whether to just publish the book with "possible multiple endings," pick the one that I believe is most accurate (and risk being wrong), wait until something substantial happens (which could take Lord knows how long), or some approach in between. Most likely, it will be the latter, I STILL have a couple of key interviews, but I can't conduct them until more information is out, at the request of the interviewees. If I can do those, I feel pretty certain I'll fill in a lot of gaps, and then put this to bed. I'm hoping it will take no longer than three weeks, and then one month to print and ship, but then, I'm still slightly at the mercy of upcoming events.
I'm editing the first 260 or so pages in the meantime, and doing some rewrites. And no, it's not entirely finished, and although I have some information that others most likely don't (and can?t even share that yet), and could make an educated guess as to the outcome, sadly, I DON'T have magical insight into the future.
So, like everyone else.....I wait. Hope that helps.
