I wouldn't put too much stock in their speed claims just yet.

No you wouldn't but you should. Intel has been delivering and pulling in schedules. The C2D is easily overclocking and there's no reason for Intel to release higher speed bins because AMD is so far behind performance wise as it is. AMD has been doing the opposite.
