Contrary to popular opinion, the US has a National ID system. Its called Social Security #. Cant get a job wihout one, cant open a bank ac without one, cant get govt aid without one, cant get a credit card without one, cant get a loan without one, cant get past the credit reporting agencies without one. Its why, people ask u for "last four please", when they want to validate your identity.
