I have long been for employing some limiting factor(s). The current scenario creates professional politicians and gets them locked in due to committee dependencies, levels of influence, name recognition among partisan voters, etc. We are left with intrenched political mechinations that are wrought with corruption.

Each election period, third party, or independent candidates raise issues that may get on a major party agenda during some future election cycle.

We are still using a system that was developed when word of mouth and local print was the only way to raise awareness of issues. Seems like we could be a whole lot more efficient without needing to scrap the whole thing and start over.
