Sure, 4x4 is a quad-core CPU as long as I can fit all four of those cores into a single socket on my AMD motherboard. Oops. Guess not. Of course if you want to credit AMD with inventing the world's first 250W desktop CPU...

I wonder if people will forget about the functional limitations of Intel's 2x2 architecture when 2.67GHz Kentsfield overall performs as well or better than a 3GHz 4x4, likely costs less, uses 100+W less watts under load, can use a standard single-socket desktop motherboard and cooling, can use less expensive higher latency/lower bandwidth memory without a huge performance penalty, can use a more affordable PSU, etc.
