I have another friend who owns a nano. He says it has changed his ideas about music complete. He's as much in love with his nano as the music on it. He says the tactile feeling and visual of the device is important.

Both of us come from art backgrounds that are influenced on our cultural observations, so I think his subjective observations are a little more candid and thoughful than most. (He's a very very good artist.)

At this point I think he's a little confused about which group he belongs to. He still has his CDs but he downloads the CDs to listen. He's also a user of Apple music applications. He contends that the iTunes DRM is corrupting his digital music files. He's not so happy with the proliferation of file formats but is resigned to it.
