it was interesting that you ended up settling on a device with what you see as having serious shortcomings....I desire portability and have no interest in being able to store a large amounts of data on an iPod.

It seems you didn't read my post. I think I clearly stated I think the Ipod / nano designs are first class, what I don't like is the limitations and design of the software interface / Itunes. As for settling, that is something I have not done. The 60gig Ipod video was a return gift for a favor from a friend. I didn't buy it and would never buy it. I would have bought the Ipod nano. IMHO Flash is the only way to go for a portable player. I am now looking around for a 8 gig flash player that lets me control the music storage layout. Iriver does but their flash size is still too small.

This also reminds me why many if not most PC users dislike Apple. They have to give up too much control, for the convenience of using Apple.
