You guys are both right.

Users are stupid and should be protected but experienced users should have more options.

Take the trash can for example.

Default: It should not empty without confirmation.

However it should be easy for experienced users to turn this precaution off.

Apple usually gets this right but it does blow it sometimes. Like changing boot volumes requires confirmation which drives me nuts.
