Okay, that was a pretty good start. Will let all the underpainting dry while I plot my next step with the scene. This is about the place where I get in trouble with these paintings. It seems like I don't quit soon enough and then make a mess of what started out to look pretty good. In my first art job, the guys were fond of saying to each other "quit before you ruin it". This after the first few strokes were on the board.
