I assume that you are talking about broadband over powerlines.

Since the Google investment there is a lot more buzz to it. Despite its general availability, I am not sure how well it will compete against newer wireless technologies. IMO, it will have to provide much higher speed in order to make significant inroads.

A few days ago, I joined an AT&T trial with WiMax and based on my experience it will be extremely tough to compete against WiMax as time goes on. I had fixed WiFi before with an external antenna. Now I just have an indoor antenna that gets hooked up to a gateway and off you go. Wireless, easy, fast and convenient as well as excellent reach. It took me at most 10 minutes to get it going. I am impressed!
