This maybe the epitaph of AOL ?

AOL was dialup modem, king of the hill.

Now as broadband conversion time coming slowly, its fortunate for AOL to switch to free portal.

Free portal has a long life with advertising, if only AOL shed the bulleting board graphics and go multimedia. It is important to gain portal users to get advertizing customers.

Or support cellphone users with bbs(bullets) format portal content. Cellphone internet protocol is still being developed. But AOL bullets are very much suitable for cellphone and its small screen. thumb nail advertizing, music downloads, and video picture storage on AOL server farm will not only save the operation, but also grow in the broadband market?

I think time warner should spend more time looking at the last frontier; the cellphone central office equipment to microwave tower using reduced bandwidth and cable headend without glass fibers, anyway?
