in a sense, marijuana is taxed. Since it is criminalized, any property associated with the bust is seized, and auctioned. The arresting district gets to keep the proceeds, I believe. So, the people who live in that region pay less in taxes theoreticially. The idea isn't for law enforcement to stop the crims, only get their fair share ; )
