Isn't there a law in the US which prohibit manipulating stories like iSupply is trying to tell us? iSupply says: The market research firm based the projection on a newly developed momentum indicator
I don't trust these momentum indicators any more, especialy when the are just developed.
I prefer the signals from the chipscompanies in stead.

Conditions in both DRAM and NAND flash markets are about to start deteriorating, says analyst
The Semiconductor Reporter October 9, 2006
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The near-term market rating for both DRAM and NAND flash memory have been downgraded by iSuppli Corp., the company said today -- for very different reasons.
"In the high-flying DRAM market, conditions for suppliers reached an optimal level in September," said Nam Hyung Kim, director and principal analyst with iSuppli. "Because of this, the DRAM industry has nowhere to go but down, prompting iSuppli to cut its evaluation of market conditions for suppliers to 'neutral,' down from 'positive' before.
WinBond:
(Taipei News) Winbond Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of IC product solutions, today announced the revenue results for the month of September 2006. Revenue for the month was NT$3.22 billion, an increase of 3.11 percent when compared to NT$3.12 billion in the previous month. Accumulated revenue for January to September of 2006 was NT $23.33 billion, an increase of nearly 15.02 percent, when compared with NT $20.28 billion over the same period last year.
In terms of Logic Products, as Personal Computer related products kept up the hot season effect from last month, the sales of both Motherboard Related ICs and mobile handset backend IC increased. Nevertheless, due to the low season effect of Consumer Electronics, the overall revenue of Logic Products decreased. In terms of Memory Products, because the market demand and price for DRAM rose abundantly, and the output of 300mm fab continuously increased, the overall revenue of Memory Products grew.
The current output of 300mm fab at Central Taiwan Science Park has reached 19,000 wafers per month. Winbond will continuously increase the volume of production, and the capacity is expected to reach 24,000 wafers per month by the end of this year. In addition, the market demand and price for DRAM are expected to be better which will push the performance of overall revenue forward.

UMC honorary vice chairman upbeat about DRAM market
DigiTimes.com Monday 9 October 2006
United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) bought ProMOS Technologies shares because of a strong outlook for the DRAM market, said UMC honorary vice chairman John Hsuan.
Hsuan stressed that UMC does not intend to control the DRAM maker's management as the foundry has no plan to enter the memory sector. Characterizing the purchases as "good investments," he pointed out that the DRAM market feels much better than generally believed. It will also stay strong longer than expected, he added. |
