Heap big trouble for JCP!!!

If you're on their mailing list, and have visited their home page in the past few days, you're probably already aware of the illegal bait & switch scam they played over the weekend.

It goes like this:

1. They sent out a card advertising free shipping about 2 weeks ago.

2. Since that's not a very good deal, they followed that up with a false or misleading card a few days ago advertising 30% off catalog prices.

3. Their home page has a huge banner ad for free shipping. It can't be combined with the 30% off.

4. You place your order using the 30% off code, only to find you don't really get 30% off.

5. You try it again using the free shipping code and find out the total is less, and that you got chumped with the 30% off bait, and that you've been switched to the offer you weren't interested in last week.

The scam is VERY, VERY, VERY illegal and the FTC will be crawling all over them like flies on cowpies. Since the scam involves the US mail and Internet, they'll likely be looking at mail and wire fraud as well.

Get your complaints in with your Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission ASAP. Line up your class action attorneys. Give it a bit of time to simmer and short this pig.

When news of the investigations and indictments start rolling in, JCP is going to tumble.
