hi jim, i figure
(i) the demographic issue will hit all, everywhere
(ii) bad for asset price eventually, in real terms
(iii) japan ages first, china follows, etc
(iv) side issue #1: within any particular geography, some folks are multiplying faster than others, and so even if the overall population does not age/decrease, tension will rise and get progressively unpleasant
(v) side issue #2: at least in asia, pity the boys without girls
(vi) side issue #3: within and across any society pairs, globalization will rip the stuffings out, equalizing revenue and cost, and creating have nots and haves in relatively sudden manner
all in all, process-wise, exciting, unnerving, uncertain, and difficult to prepare for, and outcome-wise, not sure, but without a doubt, nature will find a way, probably nasty
recommendation: buy gold :0)
