Jealous? Is that what you think it is? You really need to get out into the world a little more. The world is jealous, I agree, but the overriding sentiment is hate, not jealousy. They hate our one-sided policies and they hate our interferance. They hate our bull-in-a-China shop approach to politics. And most of all, they hate us for shattering the illusion that America was the shining light example of what was best in the world. Now, with Bush, we have proven that not only are we not what is best in the world, we are examples of what is worst in the world. We are fat, lazy, oil-addicted, brutes. We consume more of the world's resources than we have any right to consume and we kill people to secure those resources. Not only that, but we go into massive debt to consume those resources. We think diplomacy is a 4-letter word, instead of a way to solve problems, and we turn our best friends into our worst enemies.
My heart isn't just broken, like Ali's. Rather, I'm vehemently disgusted at the direction our country has taken. I'm so disgusted, I no longer call myself a Republican. |
