Yeah, I know. Unfortunately they think the same holds true in science, that somehow need or desire (market driven approaches) results in the "best science" LOL! IIRC, it was the neocon Irving Kristol who is largely responsible for this change in American thought. He advocated the now common Think Tank approach to economic and scientific issues, where corporate sponsors fund "research" which produces answers more to their liking than what independent scientists do. This is than used by Lobbyists to buttress their helpful lawmakers with "real" data to support whatever nonsense they are pushing. It is this mindset which results in ideological thinking sans realism, the hallmark of the current Bush regime, and many on the right. Unfortunately, some on the left have adopted the same approach. Too bad.
