we do have NATO in Afghanistan, but the commanders there aren't saying real good things lately But we still have a big chunk of "the world" on our side, so things must be going ok. Al Queada wasn't much of anything to begin with. They had maybe 5,000 guys and most were peripheral. They were enough to launch a string of terror attacks, one of which (911) was spectacularly successful. The Jihadists could understand us going after Afghanistan. You're implying even jihadis don't have a problem with us invading Afghanistan. Not so. They would have done the same thing about a country that killed thousands of their people in one attack. They claim we were killing 50,000 Iraqi babies a year. OBL specifically cited this in his fatwas against us. We RECRUITED millions by going into Iraq. We were "recruiting" jihadis by imposing sanctions on Iraq - killing the 50,000 babies, by treading on sacred Arabian soil, by allowing Israel to exist, and on and on. The Danish cartoons "recruited" jihadis. The Pope "recruited" jihadis by quoting a Byzantine king. The British "recruited" jihadis by protecting Salman Rushdie, the heretic. Everything we do or don't do makes jihadis mad. The argument that we're making them madder thus "recruiting" jihadis is false. And if you believed it, we'd have to let them dictate our policies to us so as to not "recruit" new jihadis.
