<< Well, the new network we are working on will offer these speeds. You just have to hang in there. I have seen some of the test data. It is pretty impressive! >>
Hi, David!
Thanks for the detailed and thorough reply to my questions! I sure appreciate the excellent explanations. I hope you were able to answer the questions on company time! :D
Without giving away proprietary secrets, could you try to explain how MCOM is going to upgrade the network to achieve the 128 kbps rates? Will the radios have to be upgraded? If MCOM can reliably achieve these rates at a reasonable cost, I would think that the business would really skyrocket. 56 kbps modems are only a slight step up, and the standards are still being fought over. Satellite dishes have great download speed (sometimes), but still require the landline to upload requests. Cable modems seem to be a great answer, but it will take years to get the infrastructure in place. I think getting the transmission speed up to 128 kbps is the key to getting the desktop user to subscribe to Riccochet. The mobile market is great, but until there's a nationwide network, I think you'll still see reticence on the part of mobile users to subscribe. But, if MCOM can come through on the transmission speed, and keep the costs competitive, then I would think the desktop users, like myself, would be tripping over each other trying to sign up.
Best,
