Dear Tench:

You don't know what is in those agreements. How do you know that the discount schedule is not the same? While Intel's is known not to be the same, AMD's is not known, but from all indications, appears to use the same discount schedule. You are making assumptions where there is no proof.

The only thing that is known is that most customers are supplied through distributors and those are known to have the same discount schedule and prices for all their customers. You could ask Mike the reseller, if the schedules are different to his company than for others from each distributor. Different distributors may have different prices because they feel they have better value add which justifies the higher price or think they make more money with the increased volume from lower prices.
