that's all a different gospel than what Paul preached
Really? Show me where Paul even mentions hell. Paul is the one who said that all men would be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:1-4). He went on in verse 6 to say that Christ gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. Paul also said that Christ will vivify the same all that Adam condemned, but each in his own order(1 Cor 15:22). And again in Romans 5:18&19, one act of condemnation by Adam was annulled by the cross. There are others by Paul, but I have to go to the dentist.
You, on the other hand, want to let Jesus' words to the Jews, who at the time were supposed to enter the kingdom based on their deeds (remember, Christ preached the kingdom is near and you can't get in unless you act like Me) override Paul's gospel for us. It wasn't until Christ actually died on the cross that entry into the kingdom was bought and paid for by Him. Our sins are no longer reckoned against us. Why, because Christ paid for them. After the cross, Christ became the bearer of our sins, not before. So when Jesus preached those words you continue to quote, entry into the kingdom was based on YOUR actions, not Christ's.
So Sidney, it is actually you who are preaching a different gospel than Paul. You are preaching the gospel Jesus gave the Jews for immediate entry into the kingdom BEFORE He died on the cross. Before the cross, the only entry was based on behavior. And if that is still the case, I'm sorry but Jesus is going to be very lonely there. We ain't gonna make it.
Paul preached pure grace to the gentiles. The gospel of the uncircumcision.
You choose to let certain scriptures override others. You believe only part. If it conflicts with your man made doctrine, you downgrade it. You say it doesn't count as much as the parts you do believe.
I just choose to believe all of scripture and not just the parts I agree with.
:-)
Have a good one Sid.
