Elections Canada Awards Year 2000 Contract To Agiss 09/25/97 Canada NewsWire (Copyright Canada NewsWire 1997)
OTTAWA, Sept. 25 /CNW/ - AGISS Software Corporation (NASDAQ BB: AGCR) announced today it has been awarded a contract by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Elections Canada to complete a Year 2000 impact assessment.
The contract calls for the provision of professional services to develop an inventory of Election Canada's information technology assets, to conduct a high-level assessment of the impact of the millenium change on the operations of Elections Canada, and to develop an overall strategy and approach to resolving the Year 2000 problem.

Elections Canada is the non-partisan agency responsible for the conduct of federal elections for all of Canada. Its prime task is to be prepared at all times to administer an electoral event. The federal agency carries out all the planning, organization, direction and monitoring of federal elections, by-elections and referenda. Between electoral events, the agency employs a core group of about 225 staff at two locations in Ottawa. For an event, the agency calls on the services of about 150,000 support staff in 301 electoral districts throughout the country.
