Course for the last century or so, we've also been doing something very similar in principle. If you don't have an explanation for something, evolution produced it. Evolution has to be, it is said, the explanation for music, even if we can't explain how it did it. Ditto our concept of right and wrong. Ditto homosexuality, rape, and on and on.
