Our place is a condo on the third green of the golf course in the Village. We are up the waikoloa road at about 1000 ft elevation. It is quite dry up here and a few degrees cooler than at the sea level resorts. The climate is a lot like So Cal. I refer to it as the serengetti as the surrounding area is wild land made up of old lava flows, with a lot of dry land brush. There are bunches of wild turkeys and feral goats that come wandering into the golf course looking for water and comfortable places to hang out and graze. The water trap here on the third green acts as the big draw for these animals. So we happily include herds of wild goat and their droppings as a hazard on this course.
