Not really much more info, but it appears that Motorola is challenging the decision.
BSNL: Motorola, ZTE Didn't Meet Technical Conditions
DOW JONES NEWSWIRES October 12, 2006 6:46 a.m.
Monday, Motorola went to court to challenge BSNL's decision to disqualify it from bidding for the tender, billed as the world's largest-ever single GSM equipment contract.
In a statement issued late Monday, Motorola said it was "surprised and extremely concerned by the BSNL decision."
Motorola said it had been in regular discussions with BSNL, and at no point was the company advised that its bid was being dropped for technical reasons.
"On Saturday, Motorola learned from informal market sources that it had not been invited to the opening of the price bid," the statement said.
The company has "challenged its disqualification" in the Delhi High Court, and "is seeking further clarification and transparency in this tender process," it said.
Referring to Motorola's decision to approach the court, BSNL's Saxena said he regretted the decision of the U.S. company.
"They (Motorola and ZTE) are very dear to us," he said. "We're currently doing business with them and we have the highest regard for both firms."
He said the company would abide by the decision of the court on Motorola's petition. |
