When Lane 3 talked about "putting ideals on a pedestal" I think in this context she meant giving the ideals a privileged status in debate. She is objecting to "you must not say that", "this can not be discussed", or even just refusal to consider an idea on its merits. She isn't objecting to considering one ideal more important than another or even all others. Edit - Maybe I shouldn't say what other people are thinking. I can't read minds. But I'm pretty sure I'm right about this, and I support what I think Lane3 supports, so even in the unlikely event that she says I'm wrong about her thoughts, I have at least expressed mine. <g>
