Wrong. Marc Rich was not a campaign contributor. His ex-wife was. It's unclear if Rich and his ex-wife were in cahoots. In any case, Cliton apologized for that pardon and says he regrets it. I don't think Clinton has ever even met MArc Rich. SO why did he do it?

The rumor I heard was that Rich is an Israeli intelligence asset and the Israelis lobbied Clinton to pardon him. That is credible as Rich has major operations inside Russia and the former Soviet Union which may have been used to help free Jews from the USSR and also bring down or spy on the Soviet Union.

In any case all presidents free unsavory characters when they leave office. GW Bush may have to pardon half his party leadership. That is if he isn't impeached himself first. If he is, his nreplacement will then pardon Cheney, Delay, Abramoff and the rest of the crooks. Just watch.
