Because so many things have been explained that were first attributed to the supernatural (you can start with thunder and rain and go on), it's easy to assume everything has a materialistic cause. But that would be an assumption not a logical inference.

... and I wouldn't be surprised to find that neurological studies already have been done showing how different tones, harmonics and rhythms cause different reactions in the brain, some very pleasurable. Man, upon discovering this, would seek to repeat the sound.

Yeah, I'm sure it (musical appreciation) probably has a physical basis in the brain, but the question why it does is not answered.
