You've missed the point. The word exactly was used in Geoff Altman's post. This is totally inaccurate for several reasons.

Here is the statement Geoff Altman made:
"The torture that prisoners receive is exactly the same torture that we subject our aircrewmen and special forces to in SERE school, actually they seem to get more:"

If you read Altman's source, a Wikipedia article, then no where is the word "exactly" used. "Mirror" is used to describe specific situations: "The article also claims that SERE's physical and mental techniques mirror the treatment of some detainees at Abu Ghraib." This doesn't preclude the possibility of torture of a far more violent nature witness the death of at least 1 prisoner. Nor does it preclude a gentler sort of torture for other prisoners.

So Altman either does not want to accept the possibility of American, Danish, or British staff using torture that exceeds the SERE "standards" or he has not thought the subject through.

Therefore my question: "How many trainees died?"
