The Pictures segment engages in the production, acquisition, and distribution of motion pictures, television programming, and home entertainment; television broadcasting; digital production and online distribution; and operation of studio facilities.
The Financial Services segment comprises individual life insurance and nonlife insurance, leasing and credit financing, and Internet-based banking businesses.
The Other segment primarily includes Internet-related service business, an animation production and marketing, imported general merchandise retail business, integrated circuit card business, and an advertising agency business.
In addition, the company provides repair and servicing functions through its service centers, factories, authorized independent service centers, authorized servicing dealers, and its subsidiaries.
The company was established in 1946 as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha and changed its name to Sony Corporation in 1958. Sony is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. |
