What evidence do you have the retailers made their numbers in September by discounting? With double digit comparable store sales at many retailers, there is no reason to discount. They probably had a lot of out of stocks because I doubt they bought inventory expecting that kind of sales performance.

They likely not only beat their plans for sales but gross margin as well.
