I just wanted to thank those who replied to last Friday's posts I made. I have been trying to restore my sense of security and get my thoughts straight this week. I went fishing last Friday night after I posted my last thoughts. When I came home at 1:15am there was a car backed up in my driveway with the trunk popped open. My porch light was out, and I was freaking out. I shouted out "what the f$&K are you doing?!!!?"....and two black males came running out of my house. I have several guns, so I was freaking out. The passenger was pointing at me....they jumped in and peeled out. I dialed 911 and gave chase in order to get their tag number. They shot 3 times.......I backed off, but kept chasing while giving the operator directions. My hand was shaking so bad that I was having trouble holding the phone. Chase got on the interstate....they got off on an exit and almost crashed doing a 180....they recovered and started heading in the ghetto....I still was following but they got up far enough I couldn't see what street they turned on....As I approached the street I was looking up at the sign to give the dispatcher the location.....I look up and notice their car stopped and the passenger door open....This mother F*(Ker was standing on the corner and when I got in the intersection he stepped off the curb and fired 6 shots at me....I ducked down and swirved hard to the left.....THANK GOD all the shots missed me and my car. Since I came home and thwarted their ultimate plans....they only got away with 3 guns, and my spare set of car keys. 800$ later my car has been rekeyed, and I'm having a security system put in. They had loaded up a pillow case with my check books and other sensitive data but left it behind. All my companies and credit agencies were contacted anyway.....because I didn't find the pillow case until after I had canceled everything, and only then did I start cleaning up. Ever since Katrina Memphis has seen an explosion in all the major crimes. Talking to the police they are locking up people from Louisiana left and right. I'm about tired of seeing my city decline so rapidly, and after my vacation in Nov I'll be looking at what other opportunities there are in other states. Not leaving yet, but I think it is about time to get the hell out of Memphis.

** Lessons learned: 1. Don't chase after thieves...they have nothing to lose, and will just as soon kill you than go to jail.
2. Don't call 911.....it takes them 10 minutes after the time you call to dispatch the call to the police. THIS IS ABSURD!! I now have the number to my local precinct in my phone.

Almost pulled a Bosco disappearing act......except I would not have returned. Wasn't my time....the GOOD LORD has obviously got bigger plans for my life. Anyway, glad to be back in the saddle, and hopefully nobody on this thread ever has to experience the type of bullshit I've been through.

My best regards to all - JT ..with no holes in me except the one in my head ;)

** Memphis is ranked the 2nd most dangerous city in America. I'll make you a bet they get to number 1. Our mayor should be so proud...not only did he run the educational system into the ground when he was the superintendent, but now he is well on his way to running the whole city into the ground. Last check our municipal bonds are at junk status, and we have a rumored deficit of 3-5B dollars. Just simply pathetic. If anybody watches A&E's "The First 48hrs" Memphis' homicide department is featured this season. Give it a look and you'll see the poverty and ignorance that are busting out of the seams of this city. Again, absolutely pathetic.
