Probably the same reason we have IRS agents testifying behind screens with altered voices. Fear of retribution. There have been many ancedotal stories of Intel disciplining customers. IBM after the pentium flaw is one we all have heard. Not that long ago Carl Mehr was gloating over DEC (possibly) getting its supply of Pentiums cut off in retribution for the lawsuit. Where would Carl get the idea that Intel would ever do such a thing if there was not an implicit history of such behavior ? This is very similar to the small software companies hiding anonomously behind a silicon valley lawyer during the FTC investigations of Microsoft. I'm not sure who will be willing to stick their necks out against Intel publically with the legal misery that would entail.
