I learn all I can about the company and its market. Then set up a mental scenario or script for how its revenue, profits and stock price should behave. If results turn out according to the model, I keep holding. I've done this with three stocks in succession. WDC '01-'05. STX '05-06, now INTC '06-??. So far, I haven't gone bankrupt.
