Zero sum makes sense if you accept that it makes sense. Look, I seem to recall you are religious. Religion doesn't make ANY sense to people who don't believe it (like me), but I've no doubt whatsoever that it makes some sort of sense to you, and to the millions of other people who believe in something. Try to imagine other people who believe things you don't believe- and try to understand that they accept premises you do not accept, but that they consider perfectly reasonable. That's all there is to it. It doesn't matter what the history is, and it doesn't matter that it's zero sum- belief can accomplish many things- some that seem good, some that seem not so good. To understand this, is to understand one of the key components of genocide. It IS logical withing its own framework, and (imo) understanding that goes a long way to solving the problem (for those of us who consider it a problem).
