Does calling me a True Believer add weight to your argument? Do you gain anything thereby that factual statements won't accomplish?

Just wondering . . . .

As for the questions you raise -- as I understand it, we build bases but turn them over to the Iraqi military forces when they're ready, and have already turned over a number of them.

I might add that spreading misinformation, whether intentionally or negligently, hurts the very things you are trying to help.

Fanning the flames of paranoia and fear is not humane.

As for never leaving Germany or Japan, you might want to brush up on your history of the Cold War. The governments of West Germany and Japan wanted us to stay as protectors against the Soviets (West Germany) and the Chicoms (Japan). If you can demonstrate with any crediblity that the US actually treated Germany or Japan as anything but allies after reconstruction, and that they treated us as anything but allies after reconstruction, please do so.

In point of fact, the Germans and Japanese still don't want us to quit spending our own money on their defense so they don't have to.

(I admit there were Socialist and Communist Germans and Japanese who resented winning the Cold War.)
