Hi Teri, glad to know you're still in the thick of things digging up News for the benefit of AMAT investors!...Those reports of CHIP Companies adding Facilities in South-East Asia are just a preview of things to come:---to be competitive, other companies will do the same to take advantage of Cheaper Labor caused by the 20% devaluation of the currencies in that area...

Of special Interest to me is that Phillips is considering putting up another facility in the Philippines or another country in the region. If only Filipinos refrain from getting involved in too much politics (even the Catholic Church gets itself involve by encouraging political demonstrations)---then foreign companies won't get scared and relocate somewhere. The country being a former possession of the U.S., was the country most likely to succeed after World War II, found itself as the Sick Man of Asia as its neighbors prosper by attracting foreign Investments. But one positive thing happened: the countless Inhabitants that got Fed Up with Politics, got out of the country to seek fortunes all over the world...As a result, the Philippines now has a growing Tourism Industry---its former people making HomeComings with their Dollars. Then, if Head or Members of Families sending back Dollars to the un-employed folks way back home is considered an Industry---then this one is a Big Big one...But I believe, welcoming foreign companies and not scaring them away is for the long term benefit of the country...
