All alcoholics share similar traits whether sober or drunk.

I think you're mistaken about this. My father is an alcoholic, I presume. He's been a heavy drinker all his life and now, at 93, he still can't seem stop. He drinks just enough watered down beer to keep from feeling bad, best I can tell. He's the sweetest, most gentle man you'd ever want to meet, utterly natural and honest. I have never ever seen him do anything remotely belligerent, drunk (or "lit" as he would say) or sober.

"The alcoholic's behavior, whether sober or drunk, is self-centered, grandiose, dishonest, short-tempered and belligerent. They frequently lie, even about things which don't matter and even when telling the truth would be more beneficial."
