I don't see anything the GOP can do to hold onto congress. Another GOP high-profile congressmen Curt Weldon got knocked off today, being investigated by the FBI for corruption. Very few people believe Denny Hastert. Beohner doesn't look any more credible and I just listsned to Sean Hannity liost reasons for voting Republican, none of them popular ideas, especially staying the course in Iraq.

The senate is still up for grabs, but even there, Dems will make it so close that the few GOP moderate-liberals will have the deciding votes, people like Olympia Snowe. Therefore, if the GOP holds onto the senate by a thread it will be a moderate-controlled body, not a rightwing senate like under Frist.

The news today is all bad for the GOP, and so what if the stock market is doing well? it did very well under Clinton too. Plus CLinton gave us surpluses and 500% more new jobs, and better jobs with more health care. The only issue the GOP has left is tax cuts, but the debate there is really just about the top 2% of earners, not the middleclass. So the GOP is forced to lie in their ads, pretending Dems want to raise taxes on everyone. Not true and easy to rebut.

My prediction now is Dems win 30+ seats in congres and 5-7 in the senate. So the senate is a tie, swinging one way or the other by a single seat. No one's celebrating or being complacent by any means, but it's getting real clear that some kind of landslide is underway. Either a minor landslide or a major one but a landslide nonetheless.

Rovian cheating techniques don't work well in congressional races so there are limits as to how much they can cheat, espcially in states they don't control. The GOP still controls Ohio but not for long. A landslide is underway there, Blackwell trailing by about 30%. So that state's turning blue.
