I thought similarly about the apparent precision you cited, which looks presumptuous if not capricious, on first take, so I did some short arithmetic to satisfy my curiosity. Even when taking the variances in disputed "ranges" of eons into account, he still has some rounding to play with when you consider a base of 2.5 Million years ;-) Thanks for the reply.
