Headline PPI is misleading due to anniversary of Katrina energy spike and the parabolic spike in grains prices that has occurred since the end of September.

I have quite a few contacts in apartment rentals and they all report very strong rent hikes and near 100% occupancy.

Inflationary expectations are getting embedded in the psyche of the consumer and will be difficult to overcome. I think core cpi will continue to be above Fed's comfort range for at least the next 4 to 6 months.
