I was a sappy young teenager when I saw it, so forever it will embody sappy teenage romance, which I now loathe. There's a whole genre of chick flicks where the star crossed lovers must sacrifice their love for the sake of the other, boo hoo, break out the handkerchiefs, and it's always about something stupid. Like out-of-wedlock pregnancy, or interracial sex. Oh, no, we must ruin our entire lives in order to pretend to stupid people that these "horrible" things never happened, sob sob.
