For some reason I think Frank Beamer would have made a better stock broker than football coach.
He can set a strategy and never deviate from it. I forgot the QB who played while "Druck" was sitting on the bench for two years. I think that Antonio Freeman sat out an unnecessary year because Beamer didn't recognize his talent. It took letting him play in a JV game where he made 12 catches to recognize his talent.
This ESPN thing is another story. Those guys were in the booth bad mouthing Beamer for putting up with a whole plethora of players over the years who run their mouths on the field, get Personal Foul penalties, disrespect the coaches, ...coming to mind are Delo, Williams, Loren Johnson, Vick, the kid he smacked on the helmet in Morgantown, the wide receiver, and so many others I cannot remember.
A pet peeve of mine is after the defense makes a great play, when they are behind two touchdowns, the guys are on the field waving their arms to the crowd trying to get the crowd into it. That is what you have cheerleaders for IMO. It's like Im thinking, its not my fault you have been playing like mud and are behind two td's....Gregor |
