You think Al Gore supports Chinese Communists? I haven't seen any indication of that.

BTW, on another note, I think today's China is a very different country than Mao's China. This country should update it's thinking on China, because they do present a significant challenge, but we have to use a hell of a lot more diplomacy and direct alliance building with China to make sure that they don't turn down the wrong path during this period of transition that they're in.

Also, I think the US could learn alot from Chinese diplomacy. They have a very nuance diplomacy. They know how to walk softly but carry a big stick. They never shout out threats. Rather, they will carry out a consequence, while leaving themselves an out through plausible deniability. But their messages are usually crystal clear to the receiving party. We used to know how to do that as well. Bush, on the other hand, shouts out "Axis of Evil" and broadcasts threats. What a child.

I'm all for strong arming assholes like Iran's President and Kim Jong Il, but the way you do it is not on CNN. Instead, you talk about negotiation and understanding and show sympathy for their hardships, then in back channels that are completely deniable you send them a message that we will kill them or we will bomb them back to the stone ages if they persist or spell out the consequences to them in no uncertain terms. These messages are understood and they usually eliminate the need for posturing because you haven't put them into a corner by shouting threats at them publicly. Anyway, our diplomacy is 1st grade diplomacy. Very disappointing, as I sure as hell expect excellence from our leaders, considering we're the most powerful country on earth.
