Believe it or not, the same batch of lunatics are also planning to erect a series of high-tech Stalag-like watch towers along much of the US-Canada border. Since the majority of the Canadian population lives along the border, this will make us vulnerable to high tech surveillance.

But it's for our own good, I guess.

Another story engendered by the same bunch of loony tunes -- today the US announced it had backed down from plans to, unilaterally and without consultation, start conducting massive training exercises involving the firing of enormous numbers of lead bullets into the United Statian portions of the Great Lakes. Guess they didn't realize that poisons like lead don't have to show a passport to get across the border underwater.

And it's not just the United Statians. In Britain, the Land of Surveillance, they have started installing loudspeakers in the cameras so they can yell at miscreants, a la Big Brother through the TV in 1984. Eric Blair (aka George Orwell) must be spinning in his grave.
